Gideon does it all in Cardinals’ win

HAMILTON – Justin Gideon went 2-for-4 and hit his seventh home run of the year in the Hamilton Cardinals’ 10-5 win over Kitchener Tuesday night at Bernie Arbour Memorial Stadium.

Gideon, hitting atop the Cards’ lineup, drove in four, scored twice and stole two bases as Hamilton moved to 5-12.

Tristan Osika also went deep – his first of 2022 – and had two RBI. Jeremie Veilleux drove in two, Josh Niles and Laine Renaud each had an RBI and Tyler Duncan singled twice.

Adrian Salcedo (1-0) earned the win with six innings of one-run ball. He scattered five hits and walked two while fanning five.

Brett Reid (0-2) took the loss, allowing five runs on five hits with two walks and three strikeouts over four innings.

Simon Grinberg drove in two of the Panthers’ runs. Robbie Gauthier and Evyn Sherman had an RBI apiece, Keegan Marsden had two hits and an RBI, Nathan Laird went 2-for-5 with a run and Jorden Carthy had three hits.

Kitchener fell to 7-10.
