Garces, Hillier shut down Cardinals
BARRIE – Frank Garces struck out 12 over seven shutout innings to lead the Barrie Baycats to a 3-0 win over the visiting Hamilton Cardinals Thursday night.
Garces (1-1) scattered four hits and didn’t issue a walk. Brandon Hillier picked up the two-inning save, his second of the season, giving up two hits and a walk while striking out two.
Offensively, Jake Wilson went 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs, Ryan Rijo had a pair of hits and a run and James Anderson added an RBI single. Barrie moved to 19-14.
Adrian Salcedo (1-4) took the loss for Hamilton (6-25). He gave up three runs (two earned) on eight hits over 5.1 innings. He walked one and struck out five.
Luis Jean had two of the Cards’ six hits.
