Garces dominates in Baycats’ win

BARRIE – Frank Garces struck out 10 over eight innings, and it gave Barrie’s bats enough time to come around in an 8-2 win over London on Thursday.

Garces (2-0) was charged with one run on three hits to open the best-of-five semifinal at Vintage Throne Stadium.

Malik Williams opened the scoring with a two-run home run in the sixth inning. After London scored in the seventh, the Baycats pulled away with six runs in the eighth.

Brandon Hernandez went 3-for-4 with two RBI in the win. Canice Ejoh and Adam Odd each drove in a run.

Byron Reichstein had London’s lone RBI, and Eduardo De Oleo doubled.

Majors’ starting pitcher Travis Keys (0-2) was pulled with one out in the eighth inning and charged with seven runs (five earned) on 11 hits. He walked three and struck out seven.
