Former Red Sox Ribas Named Director of Pitching by Tigers

Mississauga, ON - The Intercounty Baseball League (IBL) and the Brantford Red Sox are pleased to announce that Red Sox alumni Gabe Ribas has been named the Director of Pitching by the Detroit Tigers.

Ribas played in the IBL from 2008-2011, winning four championships with the Brantford Red Sox. After his playing career Ribas went on to coach NCAA Division I baseball before landing with the Dodgers.

Ribas had been with the World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers for the past four years as Pitching Coordinator, where he "worked across many areas within player development, including coaching staffs, performance science, strength and conditioning, baseball analytics and others to construct and maintain a highly individualized and comprehensive pitching development program," according to a release from the Tigers.

The Intercounty Baseball League (IBL) is the top-level baseball league in Canada, boasting ex-major league professional and elite NCAA college baseball players. The 2021 season will mark the IBL’s 102nd in operation. The IBL is one of the longest
continuously operated baseball leagues in the world and serves as a valuable training ground for coaches, umpires, and front office staff. More than 40 IBL players have advanced to Major League Baseball or returned to the IBL following their MLB careers.
