Filmon's slam leads Majors past Panthers

KITCHENER -- Adam Filmon's grand slam in the sixth inning highlighted a seven-run frame that put the London Majors ahead for good on their way to an 11-7 win over the Kitchener Panthers Sunday afternoon at Jack Couch Park. 

Filmon added a pair of singles and scored three times at the bottom of the lineup. Byron Reichstein went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBI, Cleveland Brownlee hit a solo home run, Julian Johnson drove in a run and scored, and Austin Wilkie singled and doubled. 

Owen Boon (6-1) struck out nine over six innings for the win. Boon allowed five runs on nine hits and walked one. 

For Kitchener, Keegan Marsden went 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBI. Adam Leader singled twice and doubled, Stephen Whalen had two hits, and Liam Wilson singled and scored twice. 

Stephen Gade (1-3) gave up eight runs (six earned) on eight hits over five innings in a losing effort. He struck out three and didn't issue a walk. 

London (16-6) holds a four-game lead over Kitchener (12-10) atop the IBL standings.
