Errors don't cost Leafs against Red Sox
BRANTFORD – Six errors didn’t cost Toronto Friday in Brantford.
The Maple Leafs (6-5) shook off their shaky defence to beat the Red Sox 11-2. Blake Simpson went 3-for-5 with two runs and an RBI, Grant Tamane had three hits and two runs, Greg Carrington singled twice, scored twice and had an RBI, Justin Marra drove in two, Luca Boscarino had two hits and two RBI, while Jordan Castaldo, Jose Vinicio, Aidan McAskie and Brady Cerkowynk all had an RBI.
Marek Deska (1-0) went five innings for the win. He gave up an unearned run on two hits with two walks and six strikeouts.
Bennett Moore (0-3) took the loss, allowing five runs on three hits with seven walks and a strikeout.
At the plate, Brantford’s Nolan Gallagher had two of the Red Sox’s five hits. Spencer Jamieson and Shamil Ubiera scored Brantford’s runs.
The Red Sox fell to 0-8.
