Eight-run seventh lifts Royals

GUELPH – An eight-run seventh inning blew open a close game and sent Guelph to a 13-3 win over Kitchener on Wednesday night at David E. Hastings Stadium.

Garrett Takamatsu went 4-for-5 with a home run and five RBI for the Royals (22-13). Keon Moseni hit a two-run single to start Guelph’s big inning, while Andy Leader, Ethan Hammond and J.D. Williams all drove in a run.

Royals’ starting pitcher Evan Grills (2-2) struck out nine over seven innings to earn the win. He allowed two runs on nine hits and a walk.

Jett Jarvis and Raul Gonzalez drove in the Panthers’ runs as Kitchener fell to 11-24. Blake Jacklin went 3-for-5 and scored once.

Danny Garcia took the loss on the mound after giving up 10 runs (nine earned) on five hits over two relief innings. He walked three and struck out three.
