Duncan, Garcés named IBL Players of the Week

The Intercounty Baseball League (IBL) announced its B45 Baseball Players of the Week for the week of June 12-18.

Tyler Duncan (Sooke, B.C.) of the Hamilton Cardinals was named Batter of the Week, following a .455 (5-for-11) week which saw the second-year outfielder swat three home runs and drive in five RBI.

A 2016 Seattle Mariners draft pick, Duncan helped lead Hamilton to key wins over Guelph and Kitchener — and sits second on the resurgent Cards with a .940 OPS in 2023.

Veteran Barrie Baycats left-hander Frank Garcés (San Cristobal, D.R.) was named Pitcher of the Week, after throwing seven innings of shutout baseball and striking out 10 in Barrie's win on Sunday at London.

Garces — a veteran of 55 major-league games with the San Diego Padres, and 2018 IBL Pitcher of the Year — currently sports a 1.97 ERA through two starts with the Baycats.
