Duncan, Burnside lead Cards past Panthers

KITCHENER – Tyler Duncan and Ryan Burnside each homered and drove in three to lead the Hamilton Cardinals to a 9-1 win over Kitchener Thursday night at Jack Couch Park.


Chris Tani, Robin Fox-Pappas and Jeremie Veilleux all drove in a run for Hamilton (10-26). Josh Niles and Laine Renaud had two hits apiece and combined to score three runs.


Jacob Gajic picked up the win with two shutout innings of relief. He walked three and struck out four. Daury Torrez started and went three innings, giving up a hit while striking out two.


Kitchener’s lone run came on a fielder’s choice in the eighth that scored Blake Jacklin, who walked in the inning to go with an earlier hit.


Brett Reid took the loss. He was charged with six runs on nine hits over six innings, walking three and striking out two.

The Panthers fell to 14-23.
