Custodio dominant in Royals’ win

LONDON – Claudio Custodio struck out 11 over nearly seven shutout innings to lead Guelph to an 8-0 win over London in the teams’ playoff opener Friday at Labatt Park.  

Custodio allowed two baserunners – a walk and a single off the bat of London’s Eduardo De Oleo in the second inning. 

Offensively, Liam Wilson went 2-for-4 with a solo home run. Garrett Takamatsu drove in two, Nick Burdett and Keinner Pina and Conner Morro all had an RBI. Andy Leader and Franklin Torres both scored twice. 

Victor Payano (0-1) took the loss for London, allowing three runs on six hits in five innings. He fanned five.  

Game 2 is Saturday in Guelph.
