Custodio does it all in Royals' win
GUELPH – Claudio Custodio did it all Saturday against Hamilton.
The 31-year-old Dominican struck out 12 over eight innings and drove in two runs at the plate in Guelph's 8-4 win. Custodio singled twice, scored once and also stole a base.
On the mound, he improved to 3-0 after allowing three runs on six hits without issuing a walk.
Ethan Hammond went 3-for-5 with two RBI, Brando Leroux had two hits, an RBI and a run, Dalton Pompey went 2-for-5 and scored once, Darius Barlas and Justin Interisano each drove in a run and J.D. Williams picked up two hits and scored twice.
For Hamilton, Justin Gideon homered and drove in two. Tyler Duncan and Josh Niles each hit solo home runs.
Sam Turcotte (0-1) allowed five runs (four earned) on nine hits over 3.2 innings. He walked three and struck out five.
Guelph improved to 5-4 and Hamilton dropped to 2-6.
