Cote powers Baycats past Red Sox

BRANTFORD – Josh Cote homered and drove in four as the Barrie Baycats beat the Brantford Red Sox 15-6 Friday night at Arnold Anderson Stadium.

James Anderson went 4-for-6 with an RBI and three runs, Jake Wilson went 3-for-6 with three runs, Carson Burns drove in two, Brad McQuinn had three hits and an RBI, Owen Jansen picked up two hits and scored run, Ryan Rijo went 2-for-5 and scored twice, Juan Familia had two hits and a run and Noel McGarry-Doyle drove in a run and scored.

Juan Benitez (6-4) struck out 12 over seven innings for the win. He gave up three runs on eight hits with a walk.

Barrie moved to 20-14.

For Brantford (2-30), Lucas Bateman and Roger Keen had an RBI apiece. Spencer Jamieson had three hits and two runs, Liam Sutherland went 3-for-4 with three runs and Jamiel Orozco had two hits.

Danny Howat (0-2) took the loss after giving up eight earned runs on 11 hits over three innings of relief, walking one and striking out three. Bennett Moore started and went four innings, allowing three runs on four hits with three walks and two strikeouts.
