CAMBRIDGE –  The Intercounty Baseball League (IBL) announced Barrie infielder Jordan Castaldo as its Rawlings Player of the Month for July.

It's Castaldo's second time earning the honour this season, having been named the league's top player in May. The 30 year old from Toronto hit .396 (21-for-53) last month, adding six home runs, 15 RBI, 19 walks and a stolen base.

Castaldo is chasing the Triple Crown as he leads the IBL in average (.462) and home runs (15), and is tied with teammate Kevin Atkinson for the lead in RBI (44). Sean Reilly was the last player to win the Triple Crown, when he did it in 2017 with Kitchener.

Castaldo, in 132 at bats, is also tops in on-base percentage (.599), slugging (.871) and OPS (1.470).

The Intercounty Baseball League (IBL) is the top level baseball league in Ontario, boasting ex-major league professional and elite NCAA college baseball players. The 2019 season will mark the IBL’s 101st in operation. The IBL is the fifth longest continually operated baseball league in the world and serves as a valuable training ground for coaches, umpires and front office staff. More than 40 IBL players have advanced to Major League Baseball or returned to the IBL following their MLB careers. The league is comprised of teams from Barrie, Brantford, Kitchener, London, Toronto, Guelph, Welland and Hamilton. For more information, visit www.theibl.ca.
