Cards use longball to beat Panthers

KITCHENER – Hamilton hitters flexed their muscles in a 7-4 win on Thursday night in Kitchener.  

Josh Williams, Yolki Pena and Jaden Brown all hit solo home runs for the Cardinals (6-6). 

Carlos Dominguez added a two-run single, Niko Kekatos went 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Johnathan Solazzo drove in a run.  

Owen Boon (3-0) struck out nine over six innings to earn the win on the mound. He allowed a run on three hits and a walk.  

Yosuke Fuji connected on a solo home run for the Panthers (5-9), who dropped their fourth straight. Trent Lawson had two hits and an RBI, Yordan Mandulay drove in a run on a sacrifice fly, Jamie Cabral had an RBI double, and AJ Karosas went 2-for-3 and scored.  

Panthers starting pitcher Andy Vargas (0-4) was charged with six runs (three earned) on eight hits over six innings. He walked two and struck out eight.
