Cardinals pull away late in win over Majors

HAMILTON -- The Hamilton Cardinals pulled away late in Tuesday's 14-2 win over London at Bernie Arbour Memorial Stadium. 

Leading by a run going into the bottom of the sixth, the Cards scored four in the bottom half of the inning. Hamilton added another five in the seventh and three in the eighth to even its record at 3-3.

Ryan Burnside went 4-for-6 with four RBI and a run in the win, while Austin Wheeler singled twice and scored twice while driving in a run, Josh Niles drove in two and scored three times, Tristan Osika and Nathan Scragg each drove in a run and scored twice, while Justin Gideon, Matt Lonetto, Laine Renaud, Chris Procopio and Brandon Nieva all had an RBI apiece. 

Matt Duffy (1-0) allowed an unearned run over six innings for the win. He scattered three hits, walking one and striking out seven. 

Owen Boon (2-1) took the loss, allowing five runs (two earned) on seven hits in 5.2 innings. He struck out six and walked three. 

Offensively, Carlos Arteaga and Hayden Jaco each had two of the Majors' seven hits. Evan Britt and Arturo Guzman drove in London's runs.
