Cardinals move over .500

HAMILTON – Hamilton moved over .500 with a 12-1 home win on Saturday over Chatham-Kent.  

Cards starting pitcher Enrique Saldana allowed a run on four hits over five innings to get the win. Hamilton (13-12) has allowed just one run in its last three games and has four straight victories. 

At the plate, Tyler Duncan went 5-for-6 and hit for the cycle. Duncan singled in the first inning, homered in the fifth, doubled in the sixth, tripled in the eighth and went deep again in the ninth to finish with five RBI. Jommer Hernandez drove in five on a grand slam and RBI single, Jaden Brown and Carlos Dominguez both had an RBI, Tanner Rempel had two hits and scored twice, and Brandon Nicoll went 3-for-5 with three runs. Robert Mackie drove in the lone run for Chatham-Kent (15-11) in the first inning. Evan Morrison and Braxton Haggith had two hits apiece.  

Yuri Yokoyama took the loss after giving up three runs on four hits in four innings. He walked five and struck out two.
