Cardinals battle back to beat Jackfish in extras

HAMILTON -- The Hamilton Cardinals came back from a seven-run deficit to beat the Welland Jackfish 13-12 Friday night.
Laine Renaud went 4-for-6 with four RBI for the Cards, who trailed 7-0 in the second inning before battling back to tie the game with five runs in the ninth. Hamilton scored twice in the 10th to pick up the win.
Josh Niles had three hits, two RBI and two runs, Justin Gideon went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI, Tristan Osika had three hits, a run and an RBI, and Ryan Magdic went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Spencer Bak earned the win in two innings of relief, allowing an unearned run with a strikeout. Matt Duffy started and lasted an inning, giving up six runs on six hits with a walk and three strikeouts.
Dane Tofteland led the Jackfish with two hits and three RBI. Griffin Keller and Eric Marriott each had two hits and an RBI, Owen Diodati went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run, Ethan Pasco scored twice, Denis Dei Baning picked up an RBI, and Andrew Mercier drove in a run and scored twice.
Will Jackman took the loss, giving up a run on one hit in one-third of an inning, walking two. Starter Rich Corrente allowed five runs on 10 hits in 6.1 innings. He walked two and struck out six.
