Cardinals add IBL All Time Top 100 pitcher Stefan Strecker

HAMILTON - The Hamilton Cardinals are pleased to announce the signing of IBL Top 100 Player RHP Stefan Strecker (Dundas).

After spending 16 seasons with the Brantford Red Sox Stefan is coming to Hamilton to re-unite with Cardinals GM Jeff Lounsbury who was Stefan's university coach at Brock University (1998-2003). Stefan also spent a few seasons as an assistant coach for Brock with Lounsbury.

"This is a full circle moment for me. It will be the highlight of my summer to watch Stefan pitch and spend time with him and his family this summer. Stefan was a red-shirt his first season at Brock and I witnessed his crazy work ethic and tenacity that led him to become one of Brock's best pitchers in its history and then move on to being one of the best pitchers in IBL history. We have shared so many great moments in baseball, and now he will hopefully help us develop into a championship caliber team. He brings so much leadership and he still gets outs." stated GM Jeff Lounsbury

Stefan over his 16 year IBL career is the all time leader in appearances with 267 and 9th in Innings pitched with 723. He has a career record of 44-29 with 40 saves with 438 strikeouts and 135 walks. He is 2 time all-star and 2 time playoff MVP. Last season Strecker pitched in 20 games with a 0-1 with 1 save in 20.2 Innings with 16 strikeouts. 

Upon deciding to play season number 17 Strecker stated "I am excited for the opportunity to play for the Cardinals this year,  they have exciting players and the organization is continually improving both on and off the field.   I look forward to helping the team any way I can.   I want to thank the Red Sox organization for all they have done for me and wish them good luck in the season".
