Cardinals add former KC draft pick LHP Clay Miller

HAMILTON - The Hamilton Cardinals are pleased to announce the signing of Left Handed Pitcher Clay Miller (Bayfield, Colorado).

Clay pitched in three games throwing nine innings with an ERA of 1.00 with 15 Strikeouts with the Burlington Herd (IBL) last year before an arm injury ended his season. Before coming to the IBL, Clay went 8-0 with 66 strikeouts in 68.1 Innings with an ERA of 3.03 with Tucson of the Peco's League. Clay was originally a 35th round pick for the Kansas City Royals in the 2013 June Amateur Draft.

"Clay will be a great addition to our pitching staff, and will fit in with our clubhouse. He knows current Cardinals Grant Arnold and Zack Gonzalez very well so this should be a smooth transition for him. He is healthy and ready to go" stated General Manager Jeff Lounsbury.

When asked about coming to Hamilton in typical lefty fashion Clay says " I can’t wait to be a Cardinal and play for a chance at the IBL crown".

"Clay will give us a chance to win every time he pitches. This year's Cardinal team has made a few changes to improve depth and added some very good key players, but we also managed to keep our core players. The guys who have been threw so much here in the past years in Hamilton. I have seen a huge improvement this winter during in-doors with those guys. They have been working harder than they ever have to make the team better. It's a testament to them." added Lounsbury.

The Hamilton Cardinals are members of Ontario’s most elite baseball league, The Intercounty Baseball League. The 101 year old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world, established in 1919.
