Burnside Joins Cardinals for 2020

HAMILTON - The Hamilton Cardinals, members of the Intercounty Baseball League (IBL) are pleased to announce the signing of Carleton Ravens Catcher Ryan Burnside (Ottawa)

Burnside joins the Cardinals after a dominate year in OUA baseball where he won OUA catcher of the year hitting .408 (40-98) with 10 doubles, 2 triples, 6 homeruns and 40 runs batted in.

"It's an exciting time for me. The opportunity to go down to Hamilton and continue to play the game I love at the highest level possible was extremely enticing and one I could not refuse. I can't wait to get down there and get to work, and do what I can to help the Cardinals compete for a championship."

Cardinals GM Jeff Lounsbury states " having watched Ryan play this fall in OUA baseball, what I love about him his pure athleticism. He can catch, play 1b, play OF and he can pitch. He throws 88-90 and he has great power to all fields as a hitter. He is a fierce competitor and has all the tools to be successful in our league. Coach Castelli will be able to use him in so many different ways and I anticipate he will bring great leadership and have a strong positive presence in our clubhouse."

The Hamilton Cardinals are a member of Ontario's most elite baseball league, the Intercounty Baseball League. The 100-year old summer league is one of the oldest baseball leagues in the world, with the league established in 1919, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind.
