Borroto stays hot in Panthers' win
KITCHENER – Yorbis Borroto continued his torrid start with three more hits in the Kitchener Panthers' 7-4 win over the Guelph Royals Friday night at Jack Couch Park.
Borroto singled twice and homered while driving in two and scoring twice. He's now batting .556 in 27 at bats. Zach Johnson hit a two-run blast, Colin Gordner went 2-for-4 with a run, and Stephen Whalen singled twice.
Yoennis Yera (3-0) struck out eight over six innings, allowing one earned run on four hits without issuing a walk. Miguel Lahera earned his third save with a scoreless ninth, striking out two.
For Guelph, Sean Reilly singled and hit a solo home run while scoring twice. Ethan Mohan went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run.
Joel Espinal (1-2) took the loss, giving up seven runs on nine hits over 5.1 innings. He walked four and struck out six.
Kitchener improved to 13-2, and Guelph dropped to 7-9.
