Borroto pushes Panthers past Leafs

KITCHENER – Yorbis Borroto had four hits and drove in a run as the Kitchener Panthers beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 7-5 Saturday in Game 2 of their best-of-seven quarter-final at Jack Couch Park. 

Kitchener leads the series 2-0. 

Borroto doubled and homered and also scored twice, while Tanner Nivins went 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and two runs. Brian Burton had two hits and an RBI, Zarley Cina singled twice, and Adam Leader added a two-run blast. 

Jasvir Rakkar (1-0) earned the win, giving up two runs on three hits in seven innings while walking four and striking out five. 

Chris Leroux (0-1) took the loss, allowing six runs on 11 hits with four strikeouts over six innings.

Offensively, Marcus Knecht hit a solo home run and drove in two, Cooper Lamb went deep, Justin Marra drove in a run and scored, and Jonathan Solazzo drove in a run.
