Borroto leads Panthers past Leafs
KITCHENER – Yorbis Borroto drove in four runs to lead the Kitchener Panthers to an 8-4 come-from-behind win over the Toronto Maple Leafs in Game 1 of their best-of-seven quarter-final Thursday night at Jack Couch Park.
Borroto went 3-for-3 and scored twice as Kitchener, which trailed 3-2, scored twice in the seventh and four times in the eighth. Liam Wilson singled twice and drove in two, while Mike Andrulis and Andy Leader each plated a pair of runs.
Mike Schnurr (1-0) earned the win, allowing a run on two hits in an inning of relief. Starter Yoennis Yera lasted six innings, giving up three runs on four hits with five walks and nine strikeouts.
For Toronto, Justin Marra drove in two with a double and home run. Cooper Lamb singled twice and had an RBI, Zac Orchard had a pair of hits and a run, and Marcus Knecht added an RBI and scored.
Alberto Tirado (0-1) went six innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits with five walks and 12 strikeouts.
