Boon, Williams lead Majors past Red Sox
BRANTFORD -- Owen Boon struck out 13, while Josh Williams' bases-clearing double in the seventh sparked a five-run rally to lead the London Majors to a 7-2 win in Brantford Wednesday night at Arnold Anderson Stadium.
Boon (2-0) was lifted with one out in the eighth having allowed two earned runs on four hits without issuing a walk.
Offensively, Williams' one-out hit erased an early 1-0 deficit and put London (3-0) ahead for good. Byron Reichstein and Humberto Ruiz each had two hits, and the pair combined to score three times. Austin Wilke had the other RBI.
For Brantford (0-3), Luca Lombardi took the loss in his first appearance of the season. He gave up four runs (three earned) in two-thirds of an inning of relief for starter Bennett Moore, who tossed six scoreless innings. Moore scattered three hits while walking six and striking out six.
Brantford was hurt by four errors, which led to three unearned runs.
Michael Deluca went 2-for-3 with an RBI in the loss. Ricky Murray also drove in a run.
