Berenbaum dominant in Leafs’ win

KITCHENER – Josh Berenbaum struck out eight over six scoreless innings, and Toronto’s offence did the rest in a 5-2 win in Kitchener on Thursday night.  


Berenbaum (1-1) allowed just three baserunners – two hits and a walk. Dustin Richardson struck out two in a scoreless ninth for his first save of 2025.  

Toronto leadoff hitter Ryan Dos Santos went 2-for-5 with a home run, double, and three RBI. Jhon Javier and Justin Marra drove in the other runs, and Spencer Macinns had two hits and scored a run.  

The Leafs improved to 2-3, while the Panthers dropped to 2-3.  

Yunior Ibarra and Arthur Kowara drove in Kitchener’s runs. Charlie Towers picked up two of the Panthers’ five hits.  


Andy Vargas took the loss on the mound, giving up five runs (four earned) on seven hits over seven innings. He walked two and struck out seven.
