Baycats use longball to pound Panthers

BARRIE – Barrie used the longball in its 15-2 win over Kitchener Thursday night at home.

Branfy Infante hit two of the Baycats’ four home runs, driving in five. Juan Familia homered and had three RBI and Owen Jansen went 4-for-5 with a home run and two RBI.

Jake Wilson had two hits, two runs and an RBI, Malik Williams went 2-for-4 with three RBI, Carson Burns picked up a pair of hits, Ryan Rijo went 2-for-4 with a run and James Anderson had two hits and scored twice.

Juan Benitez (3-2) earned the win, giving up two runs on four hits over six innings. He walked two and struck out six.

Christian Hauck (2-2) suffered the loss, allowing eight runs on 11 hits with a walk and two strikeouts in 3.2 innings.

At the plate, Stephen Whalen drove in both Panthers’ runs. Andy Leader had two of Kitchener’s five hits and scored once.

Barrie moved to 10-7, and Kitchener dropped to 6-9.
