Baycats use longball to beat Leafs
TORONTO – Four Barrie players homered, and the Baycats’ offence came to life in a 17-7 win on Wednesday night in Toronto.
Ryan Rijo went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in the victory. Tristan Clarke singled and added a three-run blast, Noah Hull and Asafa Jones each hit solo home runs, Brandon Hernandez went 3-for-6 with three RBI, Malik Williams drove in two on a pair of hits and also scored three times, and Francisco Hernandez singled, doubled and scored three runs.
Barrie improved to 4-6.
Cesar Rosado (2-1) pitched five innings for the win. He was charged with three runs on seven hits with three walks and six strikeouts. Adam Khan recorded the four-inning save. He allowed four runs on five hits over four innings. He walked three and fanned four.
Toronto’s Luis Florentino (1-1) was the hard luck losing pitcher, giving up six unearned runs in four innings. He scattered four hits, walked six and struck out four.
Dennis Dei Baning drove in three for the Leafs (6-6). Spenser Ross had two hits and an RBI, Kalayo Shaw went 3-for-4, Jhon Javier and Dan Marra had two hits apiece, and Rando Moreno and Keegan Martin both drove in a run.
