Baycats top Panthers

KITCHENER – Barrie bounced back from an early deficit to beat Kitchener 8-4 on Sunday at Jack Couch Park. 

Cesar Rosado (4-3) whiffed 11 over five innings to pick up the win. He was charged with three runs and three walks over six innings. 

Offensively, Tristan Clarke homered twice and drove in three. Juan Benitez went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and two steals, Willy Garcia went 2-for-2 and scored twice, and Alex Wickett drove in a run 

Barrie improved to 16-9 and has won nine of its last 10 games.  

For Kitchener (9-19), Mateo Zeppieri drove in three, including a two-run blast to put the Panthers up 3-1 in the second inning. Yosuke Fuji picked up an RBI with a bases-loaded walk, and Yunior Ibarra singled twice 

Owen MacNeil (2-2) took the loss after allowing seven runs (five earned) on 11 hits in six innings. He struck out eight and walked two.
