Baycats top Leafs in rain-shortened game
BARRIE -- Noel McGarry-Doyle and Ryan Rijo each had three hits and two RBI as the Barrie Baycats beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 16-6 in a rain-shortened game Thursday night at Coates Stadium.
McGarry-Doyle and Rijo combined to score seven times as the Baycats improved to 4-5 in a game that was called after eight innings due to rain. Jake Wilson doubled and scored three times, David LeBlanc singled twice and drove in a run, Jake McDonald went 2-for-5 with two RBI, and Marcel Lacasse, Jeff Cowan and Carson Burns all drove in a run.
Marshall Leishmann (1-0) went 5.2 innings for the win, allowing three runs on eight hits with four walks and a strikeout.
Sebatian Kahn (0-1) took the loss, giving up seven runs (five earned) on eight hits in four innings. The righty walked four and struck out two.
Offensively, Garret Takamatsu and Jordan Castaldo each had two hits, including a solo home run. Justin Marra went 2-for-4 with two RBI, and Sean Reilly drove in a run.
Toronto dropped to 5-5.
