Baycats storm back to beat Red Sox

Brantford, Ontario -- The Barrie Baycats scored nine straight runs to turn an early deficit into a 9-5 win Friday night at Brantford's Arnold Anderson Stadium. 

Down 5-0 after two innings, the Baycats scored four times in the third and then tied the game in the fifth. They pulled away with two runs in both the seventh and ninth to move to 2-1, while Brantford fell to 0-4. 

Ryan Rijo had three hits, including his first home run, and drove in four for Barrie. Mike Cecchetto drove in three, Marcel Lacasse knocked in two with a pair of hits, while Jake Wilson went 3-for-4 with three runs and a steal. Noel McGarry-Doyle singled and scored twice. 

After Barrie starting pitcher Kevin Millar was knocked out in the second inning, Brad Grievenson (1-0) threw 7.2 shutout innings for the victory. He struck out four and didn't issue a walk. Millar lasted four outs, allowing five runs (four earned) on two hits with four walks. He didn't register a strikeout. 

Luca Lombardi (0-2) took the loss for the Red Sox, yielding five runs on eight hits over four innings. He walked two and struck out two. He relieved Jacob English, who lasted four innings and gave up four runs on two hits with four walks and two punchouts. 

At the plate, Jesse Fishbaum went 2-for-3 with an RBI and scored once. Gianfranco Morello and Liam Sutherland drove in the other runs.
