Baycats sign Waltenbury for 2019 Season

BARRIE - The Barrie Baycats, members of the Intercounty Baseball League (IBL) today announce the signing of infielder Jon Waltenbury for the 2019 IBL season.

Waltenbury was released by the Guelph Royals after playing a part of the 2018 season there.

Jon is no stranger to the Baycats, having played here in 2012 and 2013. He was a fan favourite during his time.

Waltenbury is one of the premier hitters in the IBL. In his ten years in the league, he has a .339 batting average, 42 home runs and 233 RBI’s.

Baycats General and Field Manager Angus Roy sees the signing as another veteran fitting into an already potent offence.

“Walt is a welcome addition, obviously a solid bat and a good team guy who will see time at first base, outfield and designated hitter."

In a corresponding move, we have released pitcher Brett Lawson.
