Baycats run away from Red Sox
BRANTFORD – Barrie scored in each of the first five innings and cruised to a 16-5 win Friday night in Brantford.
Noah Hull went 3-for-4 with a pair of solo home runs for the Baycats (14-10). Noel McGarry-Doyle had three hits, three RBI and scored twice, Asafa Jones went 3-for-5 with two RBI, Carlos Sano homered and drove in three, Brandon Hernandez and Clayton Keyes each had two hits and an RBI, and Tyler Plumpton went 3-for-4 and scored twice.
Frank Garces struck out six over five scoreless innings for the win.
Brody Black hit a bases-clearing triple for Brantford (6-19), which scored all of its runs in the sixth inning. Lucas Bateman and Christian Ortega each had an RBI single, and Ethan Paulos went 3-for-5.
Red Sox starting pitcher Noah Law was pulled with one out in the fifth and was charged with 13 runs (11 earned) on 15 hits. He walked five and struck out seven.
