Baycats Rout Panthers

BARRIE - Barrie Baycats pounded out 20 hits in a 15-1 win over the Kitchener Panthers Saturday evening in Barrie. Barrie scored four runs in each of the first three innings to take a 12-0 lead.
Carson Burns, Jake Wilson and Ryan Rijo each had three hits to lead the Baycats. Rijo and Burns each had four RBIs while Wilson added one. Juan Familia, Cooper Lamb and Noel McGarry-Doyle also had two hits each.
Keegan Marsden put Kitchener on the board with a solo home run in the sixth inning.
Juan Benitez (5-4) picked up the win, on five shutout innings allowing only four hits and striking out seven. Kitchener starter Brett Reid (0-4) took the loss, giving up 12 runs on 12 hits with three walks and two strikeouts in 2.1 innings.
Barrie improved to 18-13 while Kitchener is now 11-18.
