Baycats pull into first-place tie with Panthers
KITCHENER – The Barrie Baycats pulled into a first-place tie with Kitchener after a 5-3 win over the Panthers Sunday afternoon at Jack Couch Park.
Barrie's Jordan Castaldo led the way with a three-run blast in the third inning. Ryan Spataro and Branfy Infante each drove in a run and scored, Starlin Rodriguez singled twice and scored, and Steve Lewis added two hits.
Adrian Salcedo (6-1) went the distance, giving up three runs (two earned) on six hits with four walks and eight strikeouts.
For Kitchener, Tanner Nivins went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run. Yorbis Borroto and Brian Burton both had a hit and scored.
Jasvir Rakkar (3-1) took the loss, giving up two runs (one earned) on three hits in an inning.
Yoen Socarras started and went five innings, allowing three runs on five hits with a walk and four strikeouts.
Both teams are now 16-6.
