Baycats pull away from Cards

BARRIE – Barrie’s four-run sixth inning broke open a close game and sent the Baycats to a 10-4 home win over Hamilton on Saturday.

Adam Odd drove in two in the bottom half of the inning, which started with Barrie (26-15) holding a one-run lead. Odd finished with three RBI and also stole his third base of the season. Hayden Jaco had two RBI, Canice Ejoh went 3-for-4 and drove in a run, Malik Williams and Brad McQuinn each singled twice and had an RBI, Ryan Rijo went 2-for-4 and scored twice, and Kyle Maves had two of Barrie’s 14 hits.

Juan Benitez (7-1) tossed four innings of relief for the win. He allowed three runs on five hits with a walk and three strikeouts. Cesar Rosado started and went four frames. He gave up a run on three hits with two walks and nine punchouts.

Tyler Duncan, Luis Bernardo and Andrew Johnston all drove in a run for Hamilton (18-23). Rikelbin DeCastro singled twice and had two of Hamilton’s six steals.

Mizuki Akatsuka (3-4) took the loss, giving up three runs on three hits over three innings. He walked one and struck out three.
