Baycats pour it on against Leafs

BARRIE – Barrie poured it on Thursday in a 20-4 win over Toronto at Athletic Kulture Stadium.  

Nolan Machibroda led the offensive onslaught with a five-hit game that included his fourth home run of the season. He drove in six and also scored six times. Tristan Clarke went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI, Tyler Plumpton had three hits and three RBI, Brandon Hernandez went 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs, Adam Odd drove in two and scored three times, James Anderson and Noel McGarry Doyle both had two hits and an RBI, and Francisco Hernandez drove in a run.  

Frank Garces (5-3) tossed six shutout innings on the mound. He scattered three hits, walked one and struck out eight.  

Barrie improved to 22-16 and is tied for second place with London.  

Spenser Ross had a two-run single for the Leafs (16-22). Ryan Dos Santos and Connor Lewis each drove in a run and combined for five hits.  

Franklin Hernandez (1-1) was tagged with the loss after giving up five runs on four hits in 1.1 innings. He walked four and struck out two.
