Baycats one win from title

BARRIE – The Barrie Baycats are one win from a sixth straight IBL championship.  

Barrie grabbed a 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven Dominico Cup final with an 8-2 win over the Kitchener Panthers Saturday night at Coates Stadium and can finish the sweep Sunday night at Jack Couch Park.

Jordan Castaldo doubled three times and drove in a run and scored in the win. Glenn Jackson went 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI, Branfy Infante drove in two and scored twice, Starlin Rodriguez went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run, Ryan Spataro tripled and drove in two, Kyle DeGrace had an RBI, and Conner Morro singled twice.  

Adrian Salcedo (3-0) picked up the win on the mound, allowing a run on six hits with a walk and four strikeouts in seven innings. 

For Kitchener, Andy Leader and Mike Andrulis drove in the Panthers’ runs. 

Ryley Davenport scored twice, and Yorbis Borroto and Liam Wilson each had a pair of hits. 

Yoen Socarras (1-1) took the loss, giving up three runs on seven hits with a walk and six strikeouts in five innings.
