Baycats move into second-place tie

BARRIE – Barrie moved into a second-place tie with an 11-0 win Thursday night at home over Toronto.

Canice Ejoh went 3-for-5 with two doubles and a triple in the win. Noel McGarry-Doyle went 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBI, Noah Hull drove in two, while Hayden Jaco, Malik Williams and James Anderson all had an RBI.

Baycats’ starter Juan Benitez (2-0) threw six scoreless innings. He scattered six hits, walked three and fanned one.

Barrie (11-5) is now tied with London and two games back of first-place Welland.

Johnathan Solazzo and Marcus Knecht had two hits apiece for the Leafs (6-14), who have lost five straight.

Wilgenis Alvarado (0-4) was pulled with one out in the fifth inning. He yielded five runs (two earned) on seven hits with two walks and four punchouts.
