Baycats, Leafs going the distance

TORONTO – Toronto and Barrie are going the distance.  

Francisco Hernandez went 3-for-5 with an RBI to lead the second-place Baycats, who host Game 5 on Wednesday. Barrie would face Hamilton with a win, and Toronto would take on Welland with a victory.  

Also at the plate, Nolan Machibroda singled and drove in two for the Baycats. Noel McGarry Doyle and Tristan Clarke had an RBI apiece, and Brandon Hernandez and Andrew Johnston each scored twice.  

Frank Garces (1-0) was on the mound and allowed three runs on four hits in eight innings. He walked three and struck out 13 before Carlos Sano picked up the save.  

Marcus Knecht hit a two-run homer for the Leafs, and Justin Marra added a solo blast.  

Wilgenis Alvarado (0-1) suffered the loss after giving up five runs on seven hits in 5.2 innings. He walked four and fanned four.
