Baycats hold off Cardinals

HAMILTON – Jake Wilson singled, homered and drove in two as the Barrie Baycats beat Hamilton 3-2 Friday night on the road.

James Anderson drove in the Baycats’ other run with an RBI single in the sixth inning.

Juan Benitez (1-2) went seven innings for the win, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits with a walk and nine strikeouts.

Brad Grieveson struck out two in a scoreless ninth for his second save of 2022.

Laine Renaud and Jacob Underwood drove in Hamilton’s runs. Josh Niles scored both times.

On the mound, Ben Braun (1-2) gave up two runs on four hits over 5.1 innings. He walked three and struck out three.

Barrie improved to 6-5, and Hamilton dropped to 2-5.
