Baycats dominate Game Two

WELLAND – The Barrie Baycats jumped out to an early lead and cruised to an 11-0 road win over the Welland Jackfish in Game 2 of their IBL semifinal Sunday night.

Barrie leads the best-of-seven series 2-0.

Kyle DeGrace hit a two-run home run and finished with three RBI for the Baycats, who led 3-0 after two innings and 9-0 through five.

Ryan Spataro went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run atop Barrie's lineup, while Game 1 hero Starlin Rodriguez singled, doubled and drove in three. Jon Waltenbury had a pair of hits and an RBI, Ryan Rijo drove in a run and scored, Conner Morro went 3-for-5 with three runs, and Branfy Infante drove in two on a pair of hits and also scored a run.

Matthew St. Kitts (2-0) went six scoreless innings, allowing two hits with a walk and three strikeouts.

Welland starter Christian Young (1-1) took the loss, surrendering six runs on eight hits in 3.1 innings. He walked two and struck out two.

Offensively, Brendon Dadson had two of Welland's four hits.
