Baycats come back to edge Cardinals in 10th

BARRIE – The Barrie Baycats scored twice in the bottom of the 10th to edge the Hamilton Cardinals 4-3 Saturday afternoon.

Noel McGarry-Doyle led the home side with three hits, two steals, an RBI and a run. Branfy Infante went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run, James Anderson picked up a pair of hits and drove in a run, Ryan Rijo had an RBI and Jake Wilson went 2-for-5 and scored once.

Brad Grieveson (1-0) earned the win in relief, allowing an unearned run while striking out three. Juan Benitez went seven scoreless, scattering five hits with six strikeouts. He didn’t walk anyone.

For Hamilton, Justin Gideon went 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBI. Tyler Duncan had two hits and Jeremie Veilleux drove in a run.

Daury Torrez took the loss, allowing two runs on two hits in 1.2 innings. Sam Turcotte started and gave up two runs on seven hits in five innings. He struck out seven and didn’t issue a walk.
