Baycats bounce back to beat Leafs

TORONTO – One night after their seven-game win streak was snapped, the Barrie Baycats bounced back with a 19-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs Wednesday at Christie Pits.

Jordan Castaldo and Kevin Atkinson each went 5-for-7 with a home run. Combined, the duo drove in nine and scored four times.

Ryan Spataro had two hits, four runs and an RBI, Starlin Rodriguez singled twice and scored three times, Jon Waltenbury drove in two, Parker Walker drove in a run and scored twice, while Steve Lewis and Connor Morro each had two hits, two runs and an RBI.

Emilis Guerrero (4-0) tossed eight innings of one-run ball, scattering five hits with a walk and five strikeouts.

Jonathan Solazzo led Toronto with a single and solo home run. Garret Takamatsu had two hits and scored once, Cooper Lamb singled and doubled, and Grant Tamane drove in a run.

Jean Carlos Henriquez took the loss, surrendering six runs (two earned) on nine hits over 3.2 innings. He walked three and struck out five.
