Baycats beat Mother Nature, Red Sox

BARRIE – First the Barrie Baycats beat Mother Nature, and then they beat the Brantford Red Sox 5-0 Saturday evening.

Heavy rain ended the game after seven innings – two more than needed for it to be an official game.

Starlin Rodriguez went 3-for-4 with three RBI and a run, and Glenn Jackson had two hits, two steals,  an RBI and a run. Ryan Rijo added an RBI.

Matthew St. Kitts (2-0) scattered five hits and struck out six with a walk in seven innings as Barrie improved to 21-7.

Luis Perez and Jacob Reid each doubled for the Red Sox (4-24).

Edison Frias (1-5) took the loss, allowing five runs on nine hits with a walk and six strikeouts.
