Baycats beat Cardinals in extra innings

HAMILTON – A three-run 10th inning gave Barrie the cushion it needed in an 8-6 win over Hamilton on Friday at Bernie Arbour Memorial Stadium.  

Noel McGarry Doyle went 3-for-5 with two RBI for Barrie (20-12). Francisco Hernandez drove in two, while Tristan Clarke, Noah Hull and Adam Odd had an RBI apiece.  

Carlos Sano (5-1) earned the win on the mound with 1.1 innings of relief. He allowed an unearned run on two hits with a strikeout. Baycats’ starter Cesar Rosado was dominant, striking out five over seven shutout innings. He walked four and gave up one hit.  

For Hamilton (17-14), Tyler Duncan, Niko Kekatos and Jaden Brown all drove in a run. The Cardinals trailed 5-0 before scoring once in the eighth and four times in the ninth.  

Steven Hospital was saddled with the loss after giving up three runs (two earned) on two hits in two-thirds of an inning. He walked two and struck out one. Enrique Santana started and went four innings, allowing five runs on six hits with three walks and a strikeout.
