Baycats Announce Changes to Management Team
Barrie, ON - The Barrie Baycats, 7-time Intercounty Baseball League champions today announce changes to its management team.
In 1999, the Barrie Baycats were awarded a franchise in the Intercounty Baseball League, a league that has operated for a historic 104 years. Much work and effort by many people have gone into building the Baycats franchise from the very beginning to where it exists today. Two specific individuals have been instrumental in building the Baycats brand.
The Board of Directors today announced that our President, David Mills (2002-2021) will be stepping away from his leadership roles with the Baycats organization. Anybody who knows Dave will appreciate the passion that he has given the team. He has been the leader and driving force of the Baycats since 2001 and many of the successes of the team both on and off the field are because of Dave’s efforts. His very first objective was to create and promote a professional image for our organization. That objective has been clearly demonstrated and accomplished.
“After attending 461 home games over 20 years, it is now bottom of the 9th, time to retire and take some time off, just enjoy watching beloved Baycats baseball”, said Mills. “We have created an incredible Baycats culture, we are a real family. I have met and worked with so many over the years, too many to thank individually. This voyage in baseball has been truly a labour of love, with great memories, happy times with absolute fun, interacting with great people. Thank you to everyone who has shared this time with me”.
The Board of Directors also announces that our Vice President, Paul Marley (2000-2021) will be stepping away from his many roles within the organization as well. Paul is most often in the background showing tremendous support to the organization, the Board of Directors and the team. Paul could be defined as a pillar of strength within our organization….always there, and willing to help out.
“Everyone associated with the Baycats should take pride in all that has been accomplished in 20 years,” said Marley. “I have played only a small part in the many successes. It has been a pleasure to work in a class organization. I look forward to being at the park, enjoying Baycats baseball as a fan”.
Dave and Paul will continue to be great supporters of the Baycats.
The Baycats Board will be looking for those interested in taking Baycats to the next 20 years. For inquiries contact Chris Gariepy at c.gariepy@rogers.com
