Barnstormers take down Majors
CHATHAM – Chatham-Kent moved 1.5 games back of London for second place after an 8-3 win over the Majors on Tuesday at Fergie Jenkins Field.
Evan Morrison and Sadler Goodwin each hit solo home runs for the Barnstormers (8-6).
Mitsuki Fukada and Trent Sillett both had two hits and two RBI, and Lee Kucera singled twice and stole his first base of the season.
Brock Whitson (3-1) needed to record just one out in relief to earn the win. He entered the game with two outs in the sixth after starting pitcher Yuri Yokoyama allowed three runs on seven hits with one strikeout.
Tucker Zdunich led the Majors (10-5) with a three-run home run. Toby Simmons, Eduardo De Oleo and Byron Reichstein all had two hits.
Colby Ring (0-1) took the loss on the mound after giving up three runs on four hits in two-thirds of an inning. He walked one and struck out one. Jose Arias went the first five innings and yielded three runs (two earned) on four hits with two walks and six strikeouts.
