Barnstormers Power Past Panthers in Offensive Showcase
KITCHENER — The Chatham-Kent Barnstormers’ bats were on fire Thursday night, erupting for 17 runs on 15 hits to overwhelm the Kitchener Panthers 17-6 in Intercounty Baseball League action at Jack Couch Park.
Seth Strong led the offensive charge for the Barnstormers, crushing two home runs and driving in a game-high seven runs. Spencer Morin and Mitsuki Fukuda each added two home runs of their own as part of Barnstormers five-homer attack.
The Barnstormers set the tone early, scoring four runs in the top of the first and adding five more in a big seventh inning.
On the mound, Aden Ryan earned the win, tossing 5.2 innings, allowing five hits and four earned runs while striking out five.
For the Panthers, Yordan Manduley, Yunior Ibarra, Runta Osawa, and Trent Lawson each homered, but it wasn’t enough to match the Barnstormers’ relentless offense.
Andy Vargas took the loss, surrendering seven runs over six innings.
With the win, the Barnstormers improve to 14-8 on the season. Saturday, they are back in action, on the road, against the Welland Jackfish at 6:05pm.
The Panthers fall to 8-14, and visit the Toronto Maple Leafs Saturday at 2pm.
