Barnstormers end two streaks in Guelph
GUELPH – Two streaks ended Tuesday night at David E. Hastings Stadium.
Chatham-Kent stopped its three-game skid with a 4-3 win over a Guelph squad that had won four straight.
Sadler Goodwin doubled, tripled and drove in a run for the Barnstormers (17-21). Lee Kucera hit a two-run double and swiped a base, Mitsuki Fukuda singled home a run, and Spencer Marcus went 2-for-5 with his ninth steal of the season.
Brock Whitson (5-2) picked up the win in relief. He struck out one over two scoreless innings. Nik Cardinal escaped a ninth inning in which he allowed a run on three hits to earn his second save. Chatham starting pitcher Noah Richardson yielded two runs on two hits over three innings. He walked four and fanned five.
Frankin Torres drove in two runs for the Royals (21-13). Conner Morro and Garrett Takamatsu each had two hits. Morro added an RBI.
Hector Yan (4-5) took the loss after giving up three runs on seven hits over seven innings. He walked two and struck out five.
