Barnstormers edge Red Sox
BRANTFORD – Mitsuki Fukuda and Noah Murciano drove in two runs apiece in Chatham-Kent’s 8-6 win Friday in Brantford.
Spencer Marcus went 3-for-4 with two runs and a pair of steals. Robert Mackie and Lee Kucera each had an RBI.
Kenny Williams tossed three scoreless innings for the win. He scattered three hits and struck out one. Chatham starter Brock Whitson went five innings and gave up three runs on six hits with three walks and three strikeouts.
Nick Burdett went 3-for-4 in the loss. Three of his four RBI came on a ninth-inning home run. Stephen Whalen and Ethan Paulos each drove in a run, while Cam Gurney and Marcos Castillo both had two hits and scored once.
Noah Law (0-1) suffered the loss, allowing three runs on two hits in one-third of an inning as the Barnstormers scored four times in the top of the ninth. Red Sox starter Ricardo Alvarez DeLugo was touched for four runs (three earned) on six hits in 6.1 innings. He walked two and fanned six.
Chatham improved to 9-15, and Brantford fell to 8-16.
